As if you needed any specific reason to visit picturesque Gatlinburg, the city hosts an annual ball drop and fireworks show that will make your year complete. Their iconic Space Needle is the event site, but you can get a good view from the Historic Nature Trail or from above on a ride up the Sky Lift. The event typically sees about 50,000 people gathering here each year.
The Bridgestone Arena will be hosting Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band on New Year’s Eve! This will be a perfect night for family and friends to enjoy. Everyone loves some good music to ring in the new year.
Kids need a way to celebrate the new year, too, but since most can’t stay awake until midnight you can help them celebrate with a noon party instead. Head to The Muse, where you and the kiddos can enjoy crafts, a photo booth, snacks, a planetarium show, and a midday ball drop. They won’t miss a bit of sleep, and you’ll have the night to yourself to celebrate in your own way.
Some of the best names in music will be headlining this year’s annual Music City Midnight festival, like Cheap Trick, Keith Urban, and others, and it’s completely free to the public. However, you can upgrade your experience to include things like hotel stays and party access. Kids and adults of all ages can sit back and enjoy the shows as the final seconds tick down and a show of fireworks fills the sky.
Chattanooga has a rich history steeped in all things railroad, so it’s no surprise that there’s an epic New Year’s Eve dinner train to enjoy. This two-hour trip lets you travel in a 1924 dining car while you enjoy a full meal before you arrive back at the station. You’ll be back long before the clock strikes midnight, giving you time to settle into your next destination and welcome the new year.
