The management / owner of Amps and Ramps could use some lessons in basic etiquette. Our son was banned from Amps and Ramps because the manager / owner got mad at me. He punished my son for being upset with me. And this has also happened to other children in our neighborhood. A parent calls with a complaint - the owner flies off the handle and bans the child from returning. Here is the most recent, ridiculous, thing that happened. We took our son to skate - but the business was closed. There were 2 signs posted on the door, one saying they would open at 6:00 pm and the other saying it would open at 6:30 pm. My son called the number on the door and asked what time they would open and he said 6:00. So we waited (we were on our way to dinner that night). When 6:25 rolled around I called the number on the door and he said - they would be opening at 6:30 instead of 6:00 pm. So again we waited and no one showed. At 6:40 I called again in an attempt to tell him we were leaving and he lost our business that night. All I had a chance to say was "It is now 6:41 and ..." - then he cut me off. I'm sure at this point the tone of my voice was not pleasant - but I wasn't ugly or anything. I was just hungry and frustrated as we had been sitting in the parking lot for over 40 minutes because he said he would be opening at 6:00 pm. He said "you sound unhappy, so I tell you what - since you are unhappy don't come to Amps and Ramps anymore - tell your son he can just stay of my property". Then he hung up on me. No kidding... that's exactly what happened! He needs to know... this is not the proper way to treat customers. I've seen the guy out coaching soccer. It makes me wonder if a parent has a problem with him showing up late for a soccer game does the child sit the bench from then on? That's the basic mentality here. The guy is just rude. One night when dropping my son off I asked - will there be an adult on site tonight? His response was "I'm not running a babysitting service". I'm not sure why he responded in that manner. Frankly - I wasn't looking for a baby sitter. But I wasn't going to let my son stay and skate if there was no one competent enough to handle an emergency situation. The guy just needs some training in common decency and manners. I'm not even sure he realizes how rude he is. I understand through the grapevine now that my son has been given the ok to return to Amps and Ramps, but I am banned from the property. Good. But my son will not be returning either. Nor will the boys that live in our neighborhood. After the parents heard this latest episode - they said their children are no longer going there either. The parents are really getting tired of being treated rudely, or him flying off the handle and banning the child from the property until he feels he has made a point. It's a very childish and unprofessional way to act. The Amps and Ramps manager / owner should apologize to me, my son, and the other parents and children he has treated in this manner. Bad business practices will come back to bite you. Treating people rudely - well, that will come back to bite you too. I hope the guy realizes he already has two strikes against him … if he keeps this up he will eventually strike out.
